Our
Classes

Yoga classes typically feature a combination of physical postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation or relaxation. The specific focus and format of a yoga class can vary depending on the style of yoga and the instructor leading the class. Some common features of yoga classes include:

  • Warm-up exercises: Classes often begin with a series of warm-up exercises to prepare the body for the practice of yoga.

  • Asanas: The physical postures of yoga are a major component of most classes. These can include standing poses, seated poses, twists, backbends, and inversions.

  • Breath work: Pranayama, or breath control, is an important aspect of yoga and is often incorporated into classes. This can include techniques such as alternate nostril breathing, ujjayi breath, and kapalabhati breath.

  • Meditation: Many classes also include a period of meditation or relaxation at the end of the practice. This can include guided meditation, visualization, or simply lying in savasana (corpse pose).

  • Adjustment and alignment: Our yoga teachers will adjust and help align students in poses for safety and to help deepen the student’s practice.

  • Music: Our yoga classes will include music as a background, to help create a certain ambiance.

  • Modification: Yoga classes are usually open to all levels and abilities, and the teacher will provide modifications and variations to make the poses accessible to everyone.

  • Flow or Vinyasa: Some yoga classes are based on flow or vinyasa, which is a sequence of poses that are linked together through breath and movement.

  • Yoga styles: There are many different styles of yoga, such as Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Bikram, Kundalini, Iyengar, and many more. Each style has its own unique focus and approach to the practice.
